Donna M. McGowan, CPC, CRCA, CMA

Donna has been in the medical field for almost 40 years. She was the coding and reimbursement specialist for a 5-man neurosurgical practice for over 30 years. Donna is a former CPC curriculum instructor. She has taught coding, insurance and reimbursement as well as medical assisting at Greenville Technical College in Greenville, SC and has been a guest lecturer at Spartanburg Technical College. She has conducted educational sessions for local and state medical assisting and coding organizations. She is currently employed at Palmetto Health Alliance, the largest hospital system in South Carolina, as the coding analyst where she reviews the coding for problem accounts and interacts with the clinical areas, physicians’ offices and HIM departments to correct and adjust the coding when indicated and participates in policy-making committee meetings.
